The story of a young house with a long lineage
Obeetee was founded in 1920 and has spent a hundred years making handcrafted rugs of exceptional quality. It became one of the largest and oldest handwoven rug houses in the world, the first licensee of Woolmark for hand-knotted rugs and an early mover on ethical manufacturing. That standard, refined one knot at a time, is the standard Terra is built on.
A rug built the right way is built to last, and a rug built to last is the most sustainable rug there is. We work in natural fibers, dye in small batches with low-impact dyes, and pay fair wages across our facilities. Nothing about this is new for us. It is how the work has always been done.
The industry has spent a long time treating price and quality as a tradeoff, and design and substance as a choice. Terra was built to do both at once. It carries Obeetee’s tradition into a new space: design-led rugs, made to a real standard, stocked in the U.S. so they ship when you need them. The next chapter is ours to write together.
